Tony Alva is the closest to thing to stardom that I have ever been around. I’ve known Tony for 37 years and we’ve traveled the world together. Wherever we go, people recognize him and are excited to meet him and get his autograph.
Tony is a wealth of knowledge, an art lover, a musician and loves talking with everyone he meets and getting to know them.
I’m proud to say Tony is my friend and a legend and has helped put Vans on a the map worldwide through his skating, entrepreneurship, documentaries and his internal strength.
“My surfing had effect for Tony Alva’s skateboarding style and as a result of this unplanned collaboration his skateboarding in return then effected my surfing style.”
“It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.” – Andre Gide
At one time, Tony Alva was one of the most loved and hated skateboarders on the planet. People loved his success, brash style and intense pool riding abilities. He pushed the frontier of a brave new world. Others hated him for virtually all the same reasons. However, he is still here and most of them are not. There are no pretenders to his throne. He is the real deal. Skate- Ozzie

“Today, Tony still sneaks into unsuspecting people’s backyards to taste the illicit thrill of riding an empty pool.”
